
Dr. Weiping Wu
Dr Weiping Wu is the George Daniels Lecturer in the Electrical and Electronic Department at City, University of London. Since 2010, he has been one of early members of Cambridge Graphene Centre at University of Cambridge, where he was part of the team initiated the €1 billion EU graphene flagship project. At the University of Cambridge, he worked on 2D materials with various academic collaborators and industrial companies. In 2013, he was appointed as a Research Fellow in the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC), University of Southampton, the world’s leading institute for photonics research. Dr Wu has published more than 50 papers with a total citation over 3800 and an h-index of 31. He has been recognized as the finalist for the TechWorks 2018 Award, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) Young Observer for IUPAC 47th Congress, 50th General Assembly and Centenary Celebration. Dr Wu services as the Chairman of the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI)’s Chinese UK Group, a Senior Member of The Optical Society (OSA), SCI Materials Group and SCI London Regional Group. He is the guest editor of the Springer journal Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering. He is currently leading research projects in the areas of materials, energy and environment, funded by UKRI, Innovate UK, EPSRC and Research England.
